Effect of nutrient levels and cow urine spray on growth and yield of rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Arnab Bhanja, Akankhya Pradhan and Rajesh Singh

Field experiment was conducted during Khairf 2023 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P). The soil of experimental plot was sandy loam in texture, nearly neutral in soil reaction (pH 7.1), low in organic carbon (0.36%), available N (171.48 kg/ha), available P (15.2 kg/ha) and available K (232.5 kg/ha). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with nine treatments including control each replicated thrice on the basis of one year experimentation. The treatments consists of T1: RDF 50% + Cow urine spray 300 litres/ha, T2: RDF 50% + Cow urine spray 450 litres/ha, T3: RDF 50% + Cow urine spray 600 litres/ha, T4: RDF 75% + Cow urine spray 300 litres/ha, T5: RDF 75% + Cow urine spray 450 litres/ha, T6: RDF 75% + Cow urine spray 600 litres/ha, T7: RDF 100% + Cow urine spray 300 litres/ha, T8: RDF 100% + Cow urine spray 450 litres/ha, T9: RDF 100% + Cow urine spray 600 litres/ha. The application of RDF 100% + Cow urine spray 600 litres/ha recorded significantly higher Plant height (72.30 cm), Plant dry weight (35.74 g/plant), number of tillers per plant (13.67). Significantly maximum number of panicles per hill (11.53), number of grains per hill (105.20), grains yield (2605.71 kg/ha), stover yield (3692.08 kg/ha).
